Fatou Tamba has lived in the UK 18 years and in Liverpool for around eight years. She is set to be deported in a matter of days to The Gambia, a country where her friends and family believe she will be in serious danger. A petition calling for the deportation plan to be stopped has been launched.

Fatou Tamba is due to be removed from the UK on 21st April 2025 after living in the UK 18 years.
Family members, activists, doctors, nurses, housing advocates, chefs, advisers and loving friends in the community are writing this URGENT petition out of desperation.
Fatou is not only a sister but a mother, a partner, an auntie and a cherished member of our community. She has a fiancé here in the UK and was planning for their future together. Her sudden detention has shattered that dream.
Fatou is detained in harsh conditions. She is already deeply traumatised, and her mental health is deteriorating. She has been denied timely medical care she urgently needs.
He diet in detention is not suitable for her condition, the environment is cold and inhumane.
We are terrified for her wellbeing.
And now, she is being threatened with deportation to The Gambia, a country where she faces certain persecution.
Fatou and her brother have both received death threats due to their political views and activism. Fatou knows that her life is in danger if she were to ever step foot in The Gambia.
Fatou has no support network left in The Gambia. Her parents are no longer alive. She has no home, no safe place to go. If she is sent back, she will be at risk of kidnapping, false imprisonment or death. This kind, compassionate woman wants nothing more than we all do, to live in safety.
Fatou has actively contributed and volunteered with the local organisations during her time in the UK.
It is appalling for the UK Government to seek to deport her on 21st April.
