From Monday, July 22 to July 26, the Russian city of Ulyanovsk is hosting the BRICS Youth Summit, an event that brings together young leaders and entrepreneurs from the member countries of the BRICS group. This summit offers a platform to discuss current issues and find joint solutions.
The initiative to hold this event in Ulyanovsk was proposed by Governor Aleksey Russkikh, with the support of Ksenia Razuvaeva, head of the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs. The summit addresses key issues such as education, science, training, technology and innovation, health and sport, youth entrepreneurship, community service and volunteering.
Tatiana Ivshina, Executive Director of the Creative Industries Foundation of the Ulyanovsk Region, explained that each theme is led by a BRICS member country. Russia will be in charge of education, science and enlightenment. The programme includes a meeting of heads of youth affairs departments, focusing on the strategy of developing youth cooperation in the BRICS region.
Ulyanovsk Youth Development Minister Artem Miroshnikov stressed the importance of international cooperation among young people and noted that the region has the appropriate infrastructure for events of this magnitude. Miroshnikov mentioned that Ulyanovsk, known for its rich history, has in the past demonstrated its ability to organize large-scale events.
A highlight of the summit will be the opening of the international photo exhibition “BRICS Universe”, which will feature cosmonaut Sergey Kud-Sverchkov. The exhibition will feature images taken from the International Space Station and by ground-based photographers, showcasing the diversity and beauty of the cities of the BRICS countries.
The BRICS Youth Summit is organized by the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs, the Government of the Ulyanovsk Region, the Ministry of Youth Development of Ulyanovsk, the Russia-BRICS Project Office for International Youth Cooperation and the Russian Youth Union. This event is a significant opportunity for young leaders and entrepreneurs of the BRICS to collaborate and jointly address contemporary challenges.
