Is anyone out there? – Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation student achievement award

On March 9, 2025, the Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation (OSSTF/FEESO), celebrated the 2025 Student Achievement Award provincial winners. The 2025 theme – Is Anyone Out There?

“Is anyone out there?” is an age-old inquiry not limited by time or borders. It resonates with our curiosity, the vastness of space, and the possibility of life “out there”. As we explore the universe, we are also exploring ourselves. The search for life beyond our planet reflects our longing for connection, fascination with the unknown and desire to comprehend our place in the universe.

The theme speaks to our innate curiosity, ability to be amazed, and unwavering pursuit of knowledge. This question seeks to find life beyond Earth and aims to understand what it means to be human.  Students’ production inspired some truly amazing work. Nine provincial winners in nine categories were awarded $1000 in each category for their prize.

In the coming days Pressenza will disseminate students’ productions. In the meantime, we invite you to watch the awards ceremony which took place on March 9th.

The Student Achievement Awards is a writing and creative arts competition, which is open to all public secondary school students in Ontario. The competition is meant to encourage the intellectual development of our students and an interest in society.

Each year, a new theme is determined by the Recognition and Promotion Sub-Committee of the Communications/Political Action Committee.
