Noufel Bouzenboudja is a North African writer and artist who combines art with active citizenship projects. Born in Kabylia, Algeria, he taught English and theater techniques there for several years. He has lived in several countries: Spain, Denmark, Belgium, France, and Norway, where he participated in numerous workshops and international meetings on human rights, freedom of thought, and expression. He studied journalism techniques with International Media Support (IMS) in Denmark, Norway, and Finland. And now he divides his time between France and Spain, where he has established as his main residence.
In 2021, he received a scholarship from the NGO Humanity in Action for his democratic commitment and work in citizen journalism. In 2022, and joined Axxam n Tmusni, a social and educational platform dedicated to promoting Kabyle culture and language.
This year, his presence in North America was more than a symbol of his attachment to his Kabyle culture. He was invited by the Kabyle diaspora of Philadelphia and the Amazigh Union Association to celebrate the Berber Spring in Philadelphia, USA. Then he traveled to Canada with a rich program, where he was invited by several organizations, associations, and media outlets. He will give a lecture at the University of Ottawa on the theme: “Amazighs and Universal Thought” and Screening of a documentary entitled “Belaid n’At Ali: The beautiful path to Kabyle writing”
He uses his skills as a trainer and writer to help them develop empowerment tools so they become engaged and active citizens and leaders, capable of expressing themselves and taking ownership of their identity and space. Noufel writes and translates in Kabyle, French, and English.
His recent publications include an English-language novel entitled “A Pebble in the River” and a collection of short stories in Kabyle, his mother tongue, “D Tayri Kan!” (It’s just love!). His cinematic poem, ALLEGORIA, has won awards at several international festivals. He also performed the monologue Akka i d nekkni in Paris, which retraces his childhood in Kabylia. His latest work is a translation of the first novel written in Kabyle by Belaid Ait Ali.
