The Indigenous World 2024

Founded in 1968, IWGIA is a global human rights organisation dedicated to promoting and defending the rights of Indigenous peoples.

Every year they publish a book, available free of charge in Spanish and English, in which they inform us about the problems of indigenous peoples around the world, covering most of them in each country where they live. It is a great work that they have carried out in a disinterested way and that they are making available to institutions and organisations interested in the global or specific situation of a particular people, as well as to the general public.

The Indigenous World 2024 is now available for free download in Spanish and English.

The Indigenous World 2024 edition focuses specifically on the issue of indigenous peoples’ land rights.

The 71 national, regional and international reports included in this edition provide a comprehensive update on the current situation of indigenous peoples’ rights around the world, according to its website.

IWGIA publishes Indigenous World with the intention that it be used as a documentation tool and as an inspiration to promote and defend the rights, struggles, worldviews and resilience of Indigenous peoples.

On their website we can download not only the annual books they have produced over the years, but also countless reports and communiqués, books on specific topics, as well as numerous videos, debates and news items. It is a window on the reality of Indigenous peoples, on their struggle, on a genocide forgotten by nations and international organisations.

Its mission is to promote and defend the rights of indigenous peoples to their lands, territories and resources and to self-determined development, so that they are promoted, respected and protected.

They work with a global network of Indigenous peoples’ organisations and international human rights bodies. They promote the recognition, respect and implementation of the rights of indigenous peoples, including the right to self-determination, through which they can freely determine their political status and freely pursue the economic, social and cultural development of their choice.
