On Friday 15th 2024 the World March for Peace and Nonviolence stoped in Rijeka (Croatia).
Some interesting events took placed in the morning.
The international delegation of the 3rd World March for Peace and Nonviolence start from the Sanctuary of the Mother of God of Trsat with the guidance of the guardian fra. Krunoslav Kocijan through the Franciscan monastery and church: a centuries old spiritual oasis of peace in Rijeka and the region.
This was followed by a walk from the Shrine of Our Lady of Trsat, down the Trsat steps to Ivan Klobučarić Square, streets Korzo and Dolac. Then the International delegation moved to the Rijeka Italian High School with the presentation of students’ written works on the topic of Peace and the realization of the Peace Human Symbol by the students in the School Yard.
The next event was the visit of the Elementary School “Nikola Tesla” Rijeka with the presentation of a joint project of School with the Association for a Better World: a realized mural on the theme of Peace in the school yard with an appropriate festive program.
After the delegation moved to the Rijeka Port Gateway where two performances took place:
– solo dance by Franka Čop, a student of Elementary School Mrkopalj on the theme of Peace;
– Flash Mob dance “Let the Sunshine in” by students of Elementary School Vežica, Elementary School for classical ballet and contemporary dance at Elementary School Vežica, young people with disabilities from various associations from Rijeka gathered in the dance group “Magija”.
Closing there was the involvement of ships and their owners in the Port of Rijeka with the collaboration of the Rijeka Gateway and the Port Authority, which have participated in the commemoration by lighting the ship’s sirens with a short greeting for Peace.
