Daniel Ellsberg, who leaked ‘Pentagon Papers,’ dies at 92

Daniel Ellsberg (April 7, 1931 – June 16, 2023) was an American political activist and United States military analyst. While employed by the RAND Corporation, he precipitated a national political controversy in 1971 when he released the Pentagon Papers, a top-secret Pentagon study of U.S. government decision-making in relation to the Vietnam War, to The New York TimesThe Washington Post, and other newspapers.

Today we lost a movement giant, a dear friend, and a hero. Daniel Ellsberg, who faced decades in prison for telling the American people the truth about the Vietnam war, passed away from cancer. He was a peace activist until the very end. We love you, Dan. pic.twitter.com/bpiFSYHOP2
