Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) has strongly condemned the ongoing Israeli aggression in Gaza and Rafah, describing the attacks as brutal and inhumane. In a statement issued today, the DRU Executive Committee called on the international community, including the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), to take immediate and effective steps to halt what they termed as genocide against the Palestinian people.
DRU President Abu Saleh Akon and General Secretary Mainul Hasan Sohel stated, “This aggression by Israel cannot be accepted under any circumstances. Countries around the world, including the United States, are protesting these barbaric attacks. Israel must stop its assault, and it is high time Muslim countries take a firm stand against these atrocities.”
The DRU expressed solidarity with the people of Palestine and voiced their deep concern over the rising number of civilian casualties. The leaders also criticized the inaction of the OIC, questioning its effectiveness. “What is the OIC doing? If the organization had taken meaningful steps in support of Palestine, so many innocent lives might have been saved,” they added.
The condemnation came following the 7th meeting of DRU’s Executive Committee, held on Sunday night (April 6, 2025), where the resolution was unanimously passed. The meeting, chaired by DRU Vice President Gazi Anwar, concluded with a prayer for the souls of those killed in the Israeli attacks
