The World Humanist Forum convenes its First Assembly in 2025

On Saturday, January 25, 2025, the first Assembly of the World Humanist Forum will take place.

At this meeting, various Thematic Tables will be put into dynamics that will have an international and intercultural character. Activists from all regions of the planet are expected to attend, who will establish their contact modality during the session and plan their work calendar.

According to the organizers, these tables will address issues related to different areas of human activity such as health, education, and the economy from a structural and dynamic perspective, communication or human rights, as well as possible actions and horizons to overcome ecological-climatic deterioration, discrimination, the still persistent colonialism and violence against women, among other subjects.

Issues such as Revolutions and psychosocial phenomena, Non-Violence, disarmament and the cessation of war conflicts, along with emerging proposals such as Universal Basic Income, they will also be the subject of deliberation at specific tables.

The fundamental impulse for the analysis, the positions and proposals that will emerge from the study and the debates of the Roundtables, will be the aspiration for fundamental, systemic change, in favor of the well-being of the people, equal opportunities and human evolution, said the promoting group.

They also add that, unlike events of a temporary nature, at the end of which ambitious declarations of intention are generated that ultimately lack continuity and shipwreck in the sea of destructuring, the World Humanist Forum has the firm purpose of becoming a permanent instrument of information, exchange, debate and collective action between people and institutions from the most diverse cultures in the world, that they adhere to principles of non-violence and non-discrimination.

Its primary objective is to study and develop positions on global problems that affect the world today, proposing solutions and involving a large number of social organizations, academic institutions and various types of entities to fulfill their mission, under the premise of an unprejudiced and inclusive debate.

The idea of a World Humanist Forum was first proposed in Moscow on October 7, 1993 by Silo, founder of the Humanist Movement. Since the inaugural forum, this model was extended to various places where regional, national, thematic and local forums were developed.
